A Traditional Royal Wedding with a Modern Twist

Let’s face it, the royal ‘I do’ may not have brought an era of optimism to a UK’s problems caused by economic crises or ushered in a brand new dawn for HRH, as some speculated in the most important countdown to the Wedding. However it proved that the Brits still know how to combine extravagance, class and romance – let us not forget the interesting hats – so much better than any other nation. All of this reminds of themed weddings such as Harry Potter wedding yet it was something completely different.

Everything was flawlessly organized – truly an event of out-of-this world luxury and romance, several hundred year old tradition tweaked by 21st century accomplishments.

Believe it or not, viewing estimates for the wedding, at precisely 11 am UK time, was in the 3 billion range – give or take .5 million. Aussies even had bouquet throwing competitions. Citizens of Hong Kong had William & Kate masks. Guys from NYC rose by dawn to watch the entrance of guests such as Posh Spice, sporting a pair of Louboutins, Guy Ritchie (Madonna’s ex – like you didn’t know that), and assorted monarchs from basically all European countries which are no longer kingdoms, such as Serbia.

In UK’s Capital, the Metropolitan Police claimed, 1 million spectators lined the route of the wedding procession, and 500k gathered in front of Buckingham Palace to watch the Kate & William, now known as the

Duchess and Duke of Cambridge, kiss – a couple of times if you must know – on the palace terrace.
In a crazy world of unfocused attention, the royal wedding had the effect of providing a single world-wide chat about a subject with universal appeal. It was much like a party scene in the ‘Dallas,’ but this time with Prince Philip and not J. R. Ewing.

Experienced political analysts, moved in to their studios to serve as ceremony anchors, found themselves talking in all seriousness about the groom’s wedding boutonniere, embroidery of the mother of the Kate’s gown and the origin of her hairpiece.
