Acne Scarring and Prevention
Acne can cause a lot of complications in someone’s life. In most cases acne will disappear by the time our hormones die down and oil production is lessened. For these people acne can be something that can be put into the past, relegated to being something that brings back bad memories. But for many people around the world, the problem does not go away. Acne can continue well into adulthood, or there may be remnants left on a person’s face. Scarring is a common result of severe acne that can lead to great frustration and embarrassment. In many cases it may be very difficult to remove scars once they have formed, so prevention may be the best course of action.
A scar can occur for many reasons, but the primary cause is when a break in the skin happens. Acne can cause great damage to the skin if left unchecked. In most cases, the break in skin will heal by itself quickly and there won’t be any scar left. But for people with deep inflammation on the skin, lesions have a chance to be bigger and more severe. When the problem is deep under the surface, everything above the epidermis will be subject to damage. There may be blood at first, and then a scab and in the end the skin may overcompensate for damage, or not be able to keep up with the lesions.
Once scars have formed on the face, there are several options. Trying to deal with scars is a common skin problem so your dermatologist may be able to offer procedural treatments that can lessen the damage. Or you can choose to be patient since time will most likely heal smaller wounds. If the problem is extremely notable however, the only avenue to pursue might include an expensive procedure along the lines of plastic surgery or laser resurfacing. This is why prevention is so important when thinking of how to get rid of acne and scarring. It’s a lot easier to find a comprehensive plan of prevention, than an actual method to deal with a situation that might just have to run its course before it goes away.
