Buying guide for commercial bar stools
Buying commercial bar stools can be a very frustrating experience. Unfortunately there are many different makes and “look a likes”. If you see multiple chairs which look similar, a good idea is to check the weight of each bar stool. Usually the chair weight is a good indication with regards to the build quality. This is true as higher quality chairs will use heavier duty material such as thicker gauge steel tubing. This is extremely important as your commercial bar stools will experience much more wear and tear compared to a home environment.
Heavier gauge steel tubing allows for bar stools which have better welding joints. Lighter gauge steel tubing cannot hold joints over time. The tubes themselves are also prone to bending over time. Do not simply purchase the lowest cost chair available. If you are stuck and cannot decide, you can also visit current commercial establishments in your area. Speak to the facility managers and find out what brands they prefer for commercial furniture. If the same name is coming up over and over, you should definitely explore that company further.
There is a good reason that chairs are more expensive, and usually it is because of the build quality. Unfortunately, there are many knock offs in the marketplace. This can be very confusing for prospective commercial bar stool buyers. If you do not do your homework, you can end up with chairs which will break prematurely.
Check the manufacturer’s warranty and be sure to read the fine print. If the chair is not warranted for use in a commercial environment, you may want to pass on that brand/model. The reason for this is because the chair may not be truly made with the intention of being used in a high traffic environment. For example, a chair manufacturer may use lighter gauge materials for home chairs as they do not receive the same amount of wear and tear.
