Banana Nut Bread Recipe & Instructions

Banana nut bread is a wonderful snack cake for those that like flavorful breads. Banana nut bread is one of the best tasting breads with cream cheese along with a number of other spreads. Mom’s all across the world have been feeding their children banana nut bread for decades now and it probably will not stop any time soon.

With its memorable texture and ease of cooking, its no wonder so many pholks like to make banana bread. The ingredients are simple enough but the cooking does usually require that you follow a menu. Especially if your not very good at cooking yet. What you will need one cup of flour, one cup of whole wheat flour, a half cup of baking soda, 2 eggs, about 7 tablespoons of butter. The rest you will probably already have in your kitchen. The obvious items that may not already be in your pantry are the bananas and walnut halves. Purchasing good quality ingredients is key in any recipe. If you would like to have someone else prepare this for you, you can just get applebees coupons and order it as a dessert.

Once you have prepared all the ingredients, the rest is pretty simple. Preheat your oven to a temperature that you know will cook the bread thoroughly. Usually 350 to 375 degrees is plenty hot. Then, you will want to grease a large loaf pan. Mix all the ingredients remaining in a mixing bowl and mix till it has a oatmeal like consistency. It does not matter what kind of utensil you use to mix it, it just needs to be mixed well.

Now that you have spread all the ingredients into the mixing bowl, place them with a spatula onto the flat cooking sheet. Place the mixture in the oven for ab out an hour and a half. Most people have their own manner for testing whether or not a pastry is done but the most common is running a knife through the bread to see if anything stick to the knife. If some does, then the bread probably needs to cook a bit longer. Rest assured, if you order from an applebees location, using a applebees coupon will save you a few dollars to possibly ten dollars.

Your Best Burger Joint Bets

If you love a good burger and fries, you should not be afraid to enjoy it every once in a while. Every diet should allow for the occasional treat. Even when it comes to fast food there are still certain items that are better to eat than others. Consider McDonald’s, Burger King, and Wendy’s, three fast food restaurants popular for their burger meals and similar menus.

McDonald’s has five sandwiches that are all under 400 calories. The tasty chicken McGrill is 400 calories. The cheeseburger and filet-o-fish (minus the tartar sauce) contain 310 calories. The Egg McMuffin is 290 calories, while a hamburger is only 260. For vegetarians, the new McVeggie burger (available for now only in NY) is 350 calories. At McDonald’s you can get a yummy yogurt parfait for 160 calories, but it might surprise you to know that the classic vanilla ice cream cone (reduced fat) has even fewer calories at 150.

Burger King features four flavorful salads all under 300 calories, as well as three sandwiches, the Whopper Jr., hamburger, BK fish filet, and veggie burger, for well under 400 – their BK veggie burger is only 300. Their delicious chili is a mere 190 calories but will leave your stomach very satisfied.

At Wendy’s, the number of calories in sandwiches is pretty similar to McDonald’s, although it appears that sandwiches at McDonald’s contain fewer calories on average. Wendy’s ultimate chicken grilled sandwich is 370 calories. The jr. cheeseburger is 320 calories and the jr. hamburger is 280 calories. Should you opt for a hamburger kids’ meal with mandarin oranges and diet drink, it will cost you just 360 calories. The healthy mandarin chicken salad with half a pack of low-fat dressing is a smart option at just 191 calories, and for dessert the jr. frosty will run you only 160 calories.

Eating Clean? Try Quinoa!

If you want to be successful in life, being healthy is a key factor.  If you do not have your health, it can be difficult to create success in other areas.  Everyone is more productive when thy feel great.  One way to maintain your health is by following a healthy diet.  Clean eating is one of the key factors to creating a long, healthy and successful life.

My favorite clean food is quinoa.  I ran across it a few years back when I read Tosca Reno’s Eat Clean Diet Cookbook.  I first thought that it was going to be some weird health food that would only appeal to die hard health fanatics.  However, the quinoa recipe looked fairly simple and the health benefits were so strong that I though I would give it a try.  Not only did I fall in love with quinoa immediately, so did my husband and children.

I love the feeling of feeding my family healthy food. Quinoa is a nutritional power house.  The protein content is different from most grain type foods, because the protein in quinoa is complete. In order to be considered a complete protein, a food must have all eight of the amino acids that we need to survive.  Quinoa is also a great source of healthy carbohydrates.  A serving of quinoa provides you with 5 grams of fiber, 8 grams of protein and has only 220 calories.  If you team your quinoa with a black bean recipe, your will meet your daily fiber needs in a single meal!

You can enjoy quinoa at any meal of the day.  It is one of the most versatile foods you will find.  You can use it in stir fry recipes or in a quinoa salad.  It is also great as a hot morning cereal or toasted on top of yogurt.  I like to experiment with substituting quinoa in place of rice in many recipes, but there are also many great quinoa recipes.  Why not learn how to cook quinoa?

The best way to juice oranges

Do you love orange juice? Chances are that you, like most other people, enjoy a glass with breakfast. It really is a great drink to begin your day. Not only does fresh orange juice tastes great, but it is also packed with antioxidants and vitamin C.

Most people buy orange juice from their local store. In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of companies selling freshly pressed juice, which retains most of the original vitamin C and nutrients which make it so healthy. However, these juicers can be expensive, and it is also questionable how fresh they truly are. For juice to be really healthy it needs to be drunk as soon as possible after juicing. Even within a few hours the nutrient levels will significantly drop, meaning that it is no longer as beneficial to you.

Making your own juice is fun and easy. Essentially all you need is a juicer machine and a supply of ingredients. Juicing oranges is no different to juicing anything else – you crush the fruit to extract the liquid.

So what is the best way to juice oranges?

While there are many good electric machines available, one of the best ways to juice is still by manual means. Once upon a time this meant using an orange reamer, which is a hand-held tool used to crush the juice from halves of fruit. However, orange juices have come a long way since then. Not only is it now possible to obtain machines which allow you to crush entire fruit using a simple lever action, it is also incredibly easy and fast.

One of the most popular upright juicers is made by Metrokane, and allows the user to crush up to 10 oranges are minute. This completely redefines the concept of a hand juicer – it is faster than any electric machine that you could buy for home use.

In addition, a hand juicer like this also looks great. Finished in stainless steel, they make a great center piece to any kitchen and are sure to impress anybody who visits.

You can expect to pay a similar amount for one of these upright citrus juicers as you could for an electric model. If this sounds expensive, then consider that the purchase price will soon be recovered with all the juice that you will no longer be buying. So why wait? Get a juicer and get healthy today!

Basic Bruschetta Recipe

Bruschetta is a no-brainer, good typical Italian food: toasted bread with a topping. It’s a typically used as appetizer all over Italy, although it has Tuscan origins.
Not any type of bread should be used to make bruschetta. The typical bruschetta bread is also known as Tuscan bread and has the particularity of being completely unsalted. As it often happens, it is not completely clear why there is no salt. The most popular explanation among food historians is that the flavours in Tuscan regional cuisine are quite strong, intense, spicy, and unique, hence the importance of having a neutral tasting bread, which highlights the flavours instead of changing or masking them.
If you are in Tuscany, you may hear the locals call bruschetta with a different name: fettunta, a combination of two words, fetta and unta, meaning slice and greasy respectively. The best time of the year to taste the real fettunta is November, when olives harvest begins and the new oil is produced, which has a very strong flavour. The tradition of spreading olive oil on toasted bread goes as far back as the Romans.

Bruschetta is a typical dish per se, and comes in infinite variations, and although none of them has acquired the status of “traditional bruschetta recipe”, perhaps the most basic is the one with herbs and tomatoes, more common in the south of Italy.

Here is the recipe for three people:

  • 3 plum tomatoes
  • 1 small bunch of basil
  • 1 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tbsp parsley, chopped
  • ½ tsp oregano, chopped
  • 6 small slices white ciabatta bread (Tuscan unsalted bread)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Peel the tomatoes, and dice them. wash the basil, pat it dry with kitchen paper and  dice it. Put together the tomatoes, garlic, olive oil salt, pepper and herbs, and let it rest for 15 minutes.
In the  meantime, toast the bread in a the oven or in a toaster on both sides, until crispy and golden. Carefully place the tomato topping on the bread and serve wth the bread still hot.
