Sewing Projects for Tuscan Kitchens

Tuscan kitchens can be a little bit harsh just because they do use a lot of stone and tile. Really bringing in fabric is a way to soften things up. It gives a more feminine appearance to the room as well as adds in color and pattern. The really great thing about this is that you can always just change out a few of the fabric elements whenever your room needs an update for a quick makeover. You can also use decorating colors for this purpose.

Window treatments can really be the focus of Tuscan kitchens. In this case the shade should have a lot of ornate detail to it. You can do this just with the shape. The curtains can have a lot of detail to them as well. Another option would be to go with more of a valance kind of effect. This could incorporate a lot of the different beautiful curved shapes. You can also use very luxurious prints. Then you can mix and match these as long as they are in the same color palette to really get a more casual feeling.

You can also use window treatments in Tuscan kitchens even if you don’t sew. You might just want to get a premade panel and then just find ways to really change this up. A great way to do this is to just add a little bit of trim. You can buy tassels or even coin trim that is going to bring in rich colors. This can be a little bit expensive so you might just want to use it on the cornice box or the valance. You can even make tie backs from this material. This really gives a more opulent feeling to your window treatments.

You could also opt for more of a minimalistic look with the microsuede kind of curtains that are so popular right now. Then you could just add a simple ribbon border around it. This could incorporate a gold or even an orange. Another option would be just to add a stripe. You can have a lot of fun with these window treatments and even use different colors of panels together for a very whimsical kind of look.

Building Patio Stairs

Patio Stairs are totally an outdoor construction and for building these stairs you require a lot of measurements, skill set to actually manufacture the units. These set of stairs are no way related to the high finish interior prefabricated or home built staircase. The whole idea of building this unit is to get a solid staircase setup.

Building this kind of stairs require some basic prerequisites like the location should be on a very solid ground and the stair frame should be made with extreme precision. Material used is generally mixture of brick and a high strength cement. Once the mixture is made you have to get the steps ready by filling up the frames and have to allow the frames to settle and the mixture to solidify. Another way that you can go to get the cemented steps is by getting hold of a prefabricator, you will get a high quality product and you will just have to fix it at the right position.

In building patio stairs, the stair treads are of cement only and unlike the interior stairs the prefabricated exterior stairs are made up of completely cemented material and the best part is these stairs are strong enough to be used for longer time. In case of interior stairs, wooden stair treads are used and they give a high quality finish but will not work for outside conditions that is why people are bound with only cemented staircase and sometimes go for aluminum alloy staircase also.

Once the tread is set to go into the structure, they are fixed from bottom to top in a step by step approach and the risers, if used in the structure are of the same material. Next is fixing of the handrail, which can be easily done because the handrails can be of any material like wrought iron, stainless steel or aluminum. Just pick the one you like the best.

Advantages of UPVC French Doors Over Patio Doors

French doors were first used in the French colonies as a means of allowing light to enter internally and also allow fresh to circulate when opened during warm periods.

Traditional a set of French doors were made from wood and offered up as a pair of doors with a full height glass panel. The doors swing inwards or outwards. They were often used in bedrooms that open out onto balconies.

Since its inception French doors are available in a number of styles and sizes and uPVC French doors became available as alternative to wood. You can have the traditional full height glazed panels or the panel divided up into small panels which is quite popular these days.

Patio doors are a much later invention basically consists of door panels set in a track system allowing the doors to slide side to side. Normally two doors would suffice for smaller opening from about 8 – 10 feet. Beyond these dimensions three or more doors would be utilized on a triple track system.

Patio doors are presented in wood, PVC and aluminium and the type selected is really down to choice, preference and off course cost. Aluminium is generally slimmer in profile compared to wood or PVC. The area or glass in an aluminium door set is therefore greater than the other two types. PVC framing is hollow and in order to have the required strength for uPVC patio doors, steel tubing is treaded up the centre as reinforcement.

The main disadvantage with patio doors is with the usable opening. A two door arrangement for example will achieve roughly a 50% useable opening. So a 10 foot wide structural opening will only have 5 feet of it for access and egress. This is because one door must park to the side at the rear of the other to create the opening.

With French doors when swung opened, almost 100% of the structural opening is usable. This is the main advantage with French door in this size range over patio doors.

Another advantage with uPVC is it requires little or no maintenance compared to wood. Wooden doors these days are well made compared to the original but after a period of time will require repainting.

You as the consumer will always have the choice.

Adding A Stainless Steel Soap Dispenser To Your Bathroom Enhances Its Look

The bathroom is as important, if not, the most important room in a home. It is a place where people bathe; freshen up before venturing out confidently as part of their daily life. Additionally, the bathroom also makes a strong statement about a homeowner’s sense of lifestyle and taste. By embellishing your bathroom with attractive, high quality stainless steel fittings and fixtures, your bathroom will invite positive comments from those who view and use it with its appealing décor and ambience.

For quite a while, the craze was decorating the bathroom with antique accessories. Several home builders charged a great amount of money to install antique looking fixtures and fittings in the bathroom, like faucets, shower and other bathroom fittings. But this style was only for a short time. Homeowners had quite a bit of trouble with these faux antique accessories for the bathroom. They were not easy to clean, they would only blend with certain colors and they were also not compatible with a number of other room décor the homeowners would like to use. Many other crazes in accessories for the bathroom have been used and done away with, but bathroom accessories of stainless steel have still remained.

Nothing displays high quality better than having a bathroom fitted with a stainless steel soap dispenser, faucets, shower fixtures and towel holder. Stainless steel accessories are highly noticeable and very stylish. Stainless steel is perceived, by some people, to be one of the valuable products in today’s world because it is not only elegant but it can withstand wear and tear. One key factor that makes it an important and popular choice for using these fixtures in bathrooms is because stainless steel is easy to maintain. The stainless steel soap dispenser, faucet or shower fittings can be cleaned easily and made to look new by wiping with a wet cloth or just rinsing with some dish washing detergent. Replacing parts of these bathroom accessories is also easy. They can be found in many stores dealing with brick and mortar or even online. It is a style that will remain enduring and trendy.

Umbrella or Rollup Awning?

Are you looking for a way to make your backyard into the perfect outdoor setting? Then you must be thinking about shade. But which option offers the best solution? There are many things to consider when deciding what accessories to add to your yard, but the most common battle is choosing between umbrellas and rollup awnings.

Patio umbrellas are commonly found in backyards, but are they really worth it? The range of shade and seating space they offer might not even be worth the hassle of setting it up in the first place. Don’t rely on your patio umbrella satisfying people’s need for cool temperatures. They don’t offer enough space for everyone to sit comfortably, especially not if there is food involved. It’s almost guaranteed that everyone will be unhappy while some people  stand around the edges only partially getting shaded and it’s not even going to be very cool and shady underneath that small umbrella. Not to mention if a storm passes through you can kiss that umbrella goodbye. Is it really worth the trouble of buying, setting up, and replacing your patio umbrella all the time. There must be a better option!

Your solution to the unfortunate umbrella problem is found in the comfort of a rollup awning. Sturdiness and dependability make them the first class option in outdoor attractions. Everyone will be able to gather together and be seated comfortably under the spacious awning. The awnings offer enough shading to keep everyone cool. No more worrying about leaving your patio furniture out at night either because all you have to do is simply roll the awning up and its secured safe and sound for whenever you aren’t using it. When you’re ready to go back outside again all you have to do is roll it out. It’s the perfect option for everyone who is ready to truly relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Why You Should Buy Outdoor Furniture Covers

Admit it; you had not given much thought to the patio furniture during those cold winter months. Then the day suddenly arrived when the temperature was right, the sun was bright and sitting outside would be…well..a delight! The problem is that the furniture on the patio had suffered the effects of that cold winter weather. It was dirty and covered in mildew or, worse, had rotted to the point that the seams of the thread-bare cushion or the woven wicker gave-way the moment your sat down on it.

To add insult to injury, it all happened the very day you had invited some friends over for the “winter thaw” B-B-Q you had been looking forward to ever since last summer. Yeah, it was right about then that you finally admitted to yourself that it might have been a good idea to invest in patio furniture covers last fall.

Patio furniture covers are a simple and economic way to protect your patio furniture from the harsh outdoor elements and keep your patio ready for the start of a new season of outdoor fun the moment you feel those first warm, inviting rays of sunshine.

Outdoor furniture covers come in a wide array of pattern, colors and styles that can easily coordinate with your patio decor. Whether single chairs or chaise lounge styles, patio furniture covers can completely your investment. Cover each chair individually or protect all of your stacked matching patio chairs and lounges with one cover, either way it is a great way to protect your furniture.

The covers themselves can be relatively inexpensive, especially when you consider the replacement cost of quality patio furniture – including those new cushions – each year. When not in use they can be easily folded and put away for the outdoor season or kept nearby to quickly cover your furniture during bad weather – keeping them fresh, mildew free and ready to use anytime.

How to Take Care of Wall Stickers

Using vinyl decals is the cheapest way to decorate one’s home. These designs will surely make your home charming and distinctively special. But, how long will these wall decors last? Here are a few tips to help make your vinyl graphic designs last a lifetime.

  1. Before the installation of your wall quote stickers, make sure that the surface or wall is dry and cleaned well. The surface should be free of dust and particles. A wall painted with acrylic paint, which has been cured and painted for at least a month, is the best surface to attach vinyl decals.
  2. In applying the wall stickers, check the corners and sides of each design because those are the first areas that might lift. Ensure that the entire sticker is attached flat on the surface of the wall, glass, or wood.
  3. Over time, the vinyl decals will collect dust. Wiping the surface with a dry clean cloth will help maintain the design. However, using warm soapy water to clean your wall will prolong the life of your wall sticker designs even longer. Avoid using cleansers with solvent and bleach because these will affect the adhesive and the color of your wall stickers.
  4. Temperature will also affect your vinyl graphic stickers. If it is exposed to too much heat or direct sunlight for long periods, the adhesive and quality of the stickers will definitely be affected. If the wall stickers are applied outdoors, the wall quote adhesive and color qualities will diminish faster than that of indoor decals.

The durability of the wall stickers that you will use to decorate your home is greatly affected by the cleanliness and temperature of its environment. But overall, using vinyl wall stickers for your home decorating needs will surely give your home a touch of your personality for many years to come.
