Taking Advantage of Handicapped Shower Stalls

There are a lot of innovations made to make life for the handicap easier. Among these innovations is the shower stall for the handicap. In malls you will notice that in every bathroom a cubicle is dedicated to accommodate a wheelchair. Even parking lots have dedicated slots for the disabled. If you know a handicap person or if you yourself are handicap, you do not have to struggle anymore when taking a bath.

Every innovation that is there is made available to make life easier and tolerable. Handicap walk-in shower stall can be installed with a built in shower chair that you wouldn’t need to install handrails to help with balancing and moving about. These shower chairs allows you to sit comfortably and minimizes the occurrences that you would need to move about. Walk in shower stalls are also fitted with hand held shower head making bathing all the more easy. Now you wouldn’t have to worry about keeping your balance and cleaning your body since that matter is well taken care of.

There are so many styles and design availed in home depots that caters to the need of the handicap that you can even built the whole bathroom entirely intended to help with all the need that might arise. When trying to shop for accessories to make your shower stall more handicap-friendly make sure to purchase anti spill rugs. You might also have to consider hand bar that goes along the sides of your wall.

When designing a stall that would be safe and comfortable make sure that you have ample space to help moving with ease. You might also decide on installing a large stall to allow wheelchairs in the shower. Make sure that the taps are installed a little lower and the soap dish is reachable even by someone sitting in the shower chair. Since shower stalls can be made from different materials make sure that the one you buy is slip proof.

Bed Rest Pillow For Reading

Have you ever tried to read on the bed? Its pretty hard isn’t it? That’s because the bed and the pillow aren’t designed for reading. To do reading on the bed with comfort you will need to use a bed rest pillow. This keeps your alignment proper all the time.

The function of this type of pillow is to keep your back straight when you’re reading. This ensures that you won’t get tired easily. Another useful feature is the armrest. This simulate the feeling of sitting on a chair and reading on a desk.

So the point is, they keep you comfortable and supported at the same time. This also means that you won’t slide down your pillow as you’re reading. For me, that’s a massive irritant when reading on the bed using normal pillow.

But of course, there’s other reading pillows as well. One of it is the bed lounge pillow. As the name implies, this is a bigger and better version of the bed rest pillow. The bed lounge pillow has all the features the bed rest pillow has and more. For example, you have the head rest which makes it even more uncomfortable. You also can shift to many positions while resting on it simply because of its bigger size. For someone who has big bones, it’s a no brainer to buy a bed lounge pillow.

If you have the budget and need, you should get those with even more features. One of them is the ability to put your glasses or tumblers on the pillow. There’s glass hole for it. Another feature is the glasses box. There’s secret compartments which you can store books, candies and basically anything you want.

There’s a lot of place you can find a backrest pillow. You can go to stores like Target and Wall Mart. But the better choice is to go online and search for deals. There’s more variety and you can compare prices easily. You can choose from inflatable travel pillow to a simple bed backrest.

The conclusion is you, there’s a lot of bed rest pillow out there. You need to choose one which fits your need and budget.

All About Floating Shelves

Fashionable floating glass shelves are an area saver that provides up to date or classical storage to a room. A properly put in floating shelf can hold loads of weight, and gets rid of the need for the additional price of using brackets for further support.

A floating shelf may be installed easily. Depending on how heavy an item is to be held by the shelf, the set up may be an easy set of anchors by means of a wall bracket, or demand additional steps for the set up of a number of shelves for a big part of a particular wall.

For a shelf that is going to show photos or special collectible items, or even to store lighter books or magazines, a bought floating shelf might be used. It already has drywall anchors and a bracket which fits to the wall. Simply connect it to the place where you want it placed, and slip such shelf to the bracket.

For shelves that may accommodate considerably extra weight, a sturdy structure ought to be chosen. Another choice is to cut a hollow core door into shelf-sized pieces. These doors are really affordable at local hardware stores, and one door can yield multiple shelves. When utilizing this technique for creating floating shelves, paint the cabinets first and conceal the shown edges with wood trim. For the shelf to be easily scrubbed, buy laminate to cowl the shelves. This is also convenient to guard the shelf surface from scratches and slight damage.

For the invisible type of these shelves, there are two good choices: black hanging cabinets, which increase the monolithic high quality to the area or a robust accent, and floating glass shelves, which put all of the focus on the items being shown.

For bigger floating cabinets being constructed to accommodate very heavy items, buy stable wood or plywood for greatest outcomes.

Having stained glass light fixtures in your home does not just add aesthetic glow to your house but also increase its market value. Stained glass light fixtures are commonly found in churches or old themed houses. They are colorful and emit a beautiful radiance that can mesmerize everyone who sees it. This type of fixture is flexible in meeting any type of theme thus can be used and applied almost everywhere.

Allow the marker to dry completely before proceeding into painting so to prevent smearing of the marker. After making your outline and the ink is already dry, remove the tape inside the fixture or the printed design.

How to use technology to make your home safer

No matter the size of your property you’ll want to take steps to protect it from intruders and burglars. It is easy to be complacent about home security but I know from experience it is a unpleasant to be the victim of a crime. There are some simple things you can do to protect yourself as much as possible. Of course, there are no guarantees but by taking some simple precautions and maybe installing some quite cheap equipment we can stack the deck in our favour.   The first thing to make sure is that you have solid locks on the windows and doors. It’s important that every possible entry point has a lock on it. The harder it is for the burglar to get into better and the more time it takes for him to struggle with a window that is secured properly could mean he will give up and pick on someone else. It’s also important to remember to use these locks whenever you go out. It sounds obvious but it is very easy to think to yourself, ” I’m just going for a quick chat with my neighbour, there’s is no need to close all the windows”.

At the high-end technical solutions include outdoor wireless security cameras, hooked up to recording and monitoring equipment inside the house (some of these even allow you to watch the stream of video over the Internet), home alarms with entry detection sensors connected to doors and windows (although this can become very expensive if you have any lot of possible entry points) and motion sensor alarms. Stand-alone units that as the name suggests triggered an alarm when someone approaches.    All of these are good ways of improving home security but they do come at a cost. Sometimes simple is best and locking up, leaving a radio one or using electric timers to turn lights and TVs on and off can be one of the cheapest and best deterrents.

Affordable Bathroom Shower Panel and Shower Base Solutions

If you are trying to create your own shower enclosure or walk in shower area on a very tight budget, you’re probably looking to buy a bathroom shower panel kit, a door and a shower base and put it together yourself. You may also be trying to get just the panels and the base and leave it open, without a door, and have a wet room style bathroom.

Where To Start

You need to decide what you want the end result to look like. Is fiberglass white okay? Is a modular unit the look you want? Will children be using the space? Is it mainly for an elderly person? Do you really need a glass door? How much privacy do you and your family members or housemates require?

If you decide that you must have a door, then the majority of your cost will be centered around the glass doors you choose. Kohler and other companies create doors that are designed to be fitted to the bathroom shower panels and shower base models that they also create. The total kits usually cost over $1,000, once you count the cost of the panels, the doors, the floor pans or bases and all the hardware. In fact a shower unit with a glass door for $1,000 will be a great deal!

More Affordable Options

You can create an enclosure area that is open for less. Buy a shower base from American Standard for about $150, get the resin or fiberglass back panels as part of a kit, also from American Standard for about $110, or get the panels and base together for about $400 or $500 through Dreamline and put it together without doors.

The other option is to choose an area in your bathroom that is already tiled, and add a good drain and a bathroom shower panel that is in fact a showerhead and massage system. The system is best used in wetrooms, perhaps with one glass panel, and just the shower base that is designed within your floor, namely not a raised surface or a pan or base that is separate but a good drain in the tile or stone floor, and perhaps just a splash guard where the shower area ends.

If you already have a good drainage system, a tiled floor and walls, then what you’ll need is the shower panel and the cheapest of these models are about $200. If you need a door, consider spending another $200.

All in all, no matter how you decide to use the panels or shower bases, you’re going to spend about $400 to $1,000 for a decent shower area, be it open or closed, be it with doors and tile or resin and fiberglass.

Know How to Choose Your Mirrored Furniture

There are many different styles of mirrored bedroom furniture. A lot depends on what kind of look you want your room to have. If you are after the contemporary look then get a contemporary styled piece of furniture; if you want your room to have a more regal or traditional look then get something in that style although you should take into account that authentic furniture of this nature can be a bit pricey.

Another thing to consider is what color will match the furniture in your room. Many people prefer white or light brown furniture as these colors brighten up the room. However, darker brown furniture is quite classy and can have a nice effect, especially if you have a large window that lets in a lot of natural light.

If you want something good quality, then go with hardwood furniture as opposed to items made from composite wood (also known as faux wood). Hardwood furniture costs more but it is better quality and nicer looking. If you like the natural look then get something that is not painted but just has a nice varnish that allows you to see the grain of the wood. Oak, Cherry, Mahogany, and Teak wood are all very nice woods to choose from.

Keep convenience in mind as well. See how much drawer or cupboard space you need your mirrored furniture to have and choose accordingly. Many styles have either three or four drawers but you can get contemporary pieces that have cupboards at the bottom too, which gives you more space for putting things.

Also, measure the space in your room and see how large or small a piece of furniture you need. It helps to be aware of the exact amount of space you have so that you do not get something that is too big for the room. Also, be sure to check the doorway of the room as well as some kinds of furniture, especially those that do not come apart, are very hard to get through a doorway and they either get chipped or bumped up or have to be returned or exchanged.

How To Find A Single Duvet Cover

A single duvet cover is a bedding cover that can be located just about anywhere that bedding is sold.  There are really two ways you can go about finding a single duvet cover.  You can visit any of the major department stores that might have them.  If you are the type that has been shopping at the mall stores for decades and feel more secure about finding what you need that way, head straight to the bedding departments at the large stores like Macy’s or Sears.  The other method when shopping for single duvet covers is to go online and locate the single duvet cover you need.  The advantage you will have with online shopping is that you might find a wider assortment of single duvet covers than if you were to go to a store.  Here are some suggestions on where to start your shopping.

The first site you should visit is Kaboodle.com.  Whether you shop online or not, don’t start your shopping until you have visted Kaboodle.com.    This is not a shopping site but a site where you can locate other sites that might carry what you’re looking for.  If you are looking for a single duvet cover, you can enter can enter that in the search engine.  You are then directed to a wide assortment of covers available and take your time perusing through them.  You will be given the name of the store or website where you can buy the single duvet cover you picked and get a price quote of what it sells for in a particular store.  The advantage of doing this type of research is that you may find a variation in price from one site to the other.  One location might be having a sale while another one might be selling the same item at full price.  So which would you choose?

Besides price, check their inventory on single duvet covers and if they have the right size you need for your bed.  You may also find a single duvet cover that’s included in a set if you’re also considering other bedding items you want to buy.

If you know that you want to shop online, you can check Amazon.com for their inventory when looking for a single duvet cover.  Amazon often partners with third party vendors.  Amazon often has items that they drastically reduce in price.  If you’re shopping for a single duvet cover in the off season, you may find a single duvet cover at half the regular price.

The Popularity of Frameless Shower Doors

Times have changed a great deal in the world interior home fashion and design. The use of frameless shower doors is one of those changes that look to be here to stay. Doors that are frameless are a choice in new home design or in remodeling projects that might require a greater initial cost, but will pay for itself over the life of your home.

With all of the house beautiful shows that are on television today, people get the opportunity to see many remodels and renovations taking place involving bathroom upgrades. That makes good investment sense, though, as statistics indicate bathroom remodels traditionally yield high returns for the investment. Creating a bathroom design that will allow you to incorporate frameless shower doors is going to pay off now and in the future.

Frameless doors come in a variety of styles, types of glass texture, and panel arrangements. The obvious distinctive feature is the absence of a shower doorframe. The only metal needed on these doors is where they secure to the shower. There are at least three obvious advantages over traditional doors.

1. The frameless shower door has a strikingly clean and classy appearance. It allows tile work, glass etchings, and design features a chance to shine without a bulky frame obscuring the view.

2. Frameless doors clean up thoroughly and effectively. Framed doors seem to be the breeding grounds for all types of grime, mold, calcium build-up, and various types of filth. With the proper cleaning product and a squeegee, your shower stall can continually maintain its clean sanitary look and status.

3. These doors should maintain appearance and function a lot longer than an ordinary shower. The elimination of hardware and metal frame wear reduces the corrosion and potential areas on the door that often end up leaking, moldy, and laden with shower scum.

Frameless doors are here to stay. Take some time to see how the addition of these doors might just add to your existing bathroom shower. They are well worth your investment.
