Choose Animal-Friendly Methods, Not Pigeon Extermination
If you are having a problem in your house or business location with pigeons, you are probably well aware of what a pain in the neck they can be. Although individual pigeons might be friendly and not cause a problem, when you get a whole bunch of them together they can quickly get out of hand. Many people don’t know what to do in order to solve their bird problems, and often turn to a professional for a quick solution. If you are thinking about pigeon extermination, here’s a guide to make sure you do things in a way that doesn’t hurt the birds or any other animals.
The first important thing to remember, is that if you are going to call a professional, you need to make sure they will be willing to use methods that you agree with. Some exterminators don’t really care much about the animals that they are trying to get rid of, and resort to inhumane tactics like poisons to get rid of them quickly. In fact, many people don’t realize that birds are commonly poisoned in many locations, including some hotels. The good news is that you don’t need to do this, since there are many excellent alternatives available. In fact, you don’t even need to call an exterminator at all if you don’t want to, because you can do it all yourself easily.
If you are having a problem in a well defined area such as a railing, you might try using plastic bird control spikes that are applied to the railing. These don’t hurt the birds at all, merely stopping them from landing on the railing anymore. For a larger location, another option is to use inflatable balloons that looks like a giant eye. Although people may laugh at them, they really are designed to scare birds. Many customers have been successful using them. In addition, you can try using reflective tape that is meant to scare the birds away as well. There are even fancy electronic speakers that you can get to automatically get rid of the pigeons and other birds, but these will cost you a few hundred dollars.
