Dealing With Constipation Side Effects
Constipation can be a deeply embarrassing subject that people often aren’t even comfortable discussing with their doctor. Though it is not considered a disease, constipation is considered a condition that can have serious negative consequences when not properly and promptly treated.
A normally functioning digestive system will properly and routinely void waste out of the body. This allows the digestive tract to move along smoothly and eliminate toxins from the system. With constipation, the body is unable to remove waste and toxins. An excess build up of toxins can affect the vital organs and energy levels will quickly drop. This can cause a normal, healthy person to become more susceptible to germs and viruses as the immune system is weakened.
Other physiological side effects of constipation include bloating in the midsection, headaches, insomnia and grogginess. A person will actually weigh more as they carry around excess waste in their body. This will cause a sluggish uncomfortable feeling throughout the day and night. Even the taste buds are affected making many foods taste bad.
When constipated, a person’s stool will become hardened and make elimination quite painful. This can lead to fissures, tearing, hemorrhoids, and even bleeding. A ruptured hemorrhoid can actually present a life threatening condition due to the high possibility of infection. Feces can even become so compressed or impacted in the intestines that normal elimination becomes impossible. Medical intervention including enemas or internal manipulation may become necessary to pass the waste.
Constipation and the improper passing of stool have also been shown to lead to other major issues in the body. These include varicose veins and hernias can be caused from the constant straining to eliminate waste. Those with persistent constipation are also more likely to have appendicitis and gall stones which both require major surgery to treat. Frequent constipation is also a sign of colon cancer which is very deadly unless treated early. Avoid colon cancer and know more about constipation treatment or natural cure for constipation.
