Tulips are one of the easiest types of flowers to grow in the garden. They offer color and life to the early spring garden. Here are some steps to growing and planting your tulips.
1. Choose a location that will receive a lot of sun.
2. Clear the soil of any rocks and weeds and turn the soil over up to at least 6 inches.
3. Work in some bone meal or similar product into the soil.
4. Make sure you have good water drainage where you are going to plant your tulips.
5. Choose large bulbs when you have an opportunity to choose them yourself. The blooms will be larger with larger bulbs. So pick the best ones.

7. Tulips are typically planted from 6 to 8 inches deep and spaced about 4 inches from each other.
8. Tulips may be planted in a hole individually, or in groups by color.

10. Tulips need a cold period for their dormancy to be able to produce blooms the following year.
