Eating Clean? Try Quinoa!
If you want to be successful in life, being healthy is a key factor. If you do not have your health, it can be difficult to create success in other areas. Everyone is more productive when thy feel great. One way to maintain your health is by following a healthy diet. Clean eating is one of the key factors to creating a long, healthy and successful life.
My favorite clean food is quinoa. I ran across it a few years back when I read Tosca Reno’s Eat Clean Diet Cookbook. I first thought that it was going to be some weird health food that would only appeal to die hard health fanatics. However, the quinoa recipe looked fairly simple and the health benefits were so strong that I though I would give it a try. Not only did I fall in love with quinoa immediately, so did my husband and children.
I love the feeling of feeding my family healthy food. Quinoa is a nutritional power house. The protein content is different from most grain type foods, because the protein in quinoa is complete. In order to be considered a complete protein, a food must have all eight of the amino acids that we need to survive. Quinoa is also a great source of healthy carbohydrates. A serving of quinoa provides you with 5 grams of fiber, 8 grams of protein and has only 220 calories. If you team your quinoa with a black bean recipe, your will meet your daily fiber needs in a single meal!
You can enjoy quinoa at any meal of the day. It is one of the most versatile foods you will find. You can use it in stir fry recipes or in a quinoa salad. It is also great as a hot morning cereal or toasted on top of yogurt. I like to experiment with substituting quinoa in place of rice in many recipes, but there are also many great quinoa recipes. Why not learn how to cook quinoa?
