Somewhere in the 19th centrury the tea infuser was invented (way before the teabag), and once the 20th century came knocking nobody would be without one. Tea was the preferred drink of proper households.

Before the teabag was invented, people had to buy loose tea leaves. They had to put the leaves in hot water, and leave it to strain. There was a lot of clean up involved after every brewing, as you had to clean the pot of tea leaves.

The tea infuser made the tea making process a whole lot easier. It was a very convenient invention. The little gadget became very popular very quickly. There was no more need to strain the tea, and the clean up was much quicker.

Even though teabags have pretty much taken over the tea market, real tea lovers agree that infusing tea gives a much richer taste. They wouldn’t even think of drinking tea unless it was infused.

Nowadays there are sold a lot of types of tea leaves and herbs that you can infuse. Slimming tea, green tea and all sorts of herbal teas are sold especially for use with a tea infuser.

A big name in the production of tea infusers is Tiffany & Co. This company has made tea infuser almost from the time they were invented.

Before you decide on a tea infuser, you must think about whether you want a single cup infuser or one that can infuse several cups of tea. Do you often throw tea parties or do you prefer to enjoy your tea alone?
