But, most people do not know, that with proper care and handling, the mattress can last for a decade, or even longer, especially for those that are not used on a daily or nightly basis. However, because of their convenience and versatility, these mattresses are often used extensively, both as a couch and as a bed, and in most cases it will be taken out of the bedroom during the morning, and put back during the evening.
So, when taking care of them, such as the futon bunk bed, and futon sofa, what does one need to do to ensure that it will last for years and years to come?
- Stock on upholstery or mattress cleaners, because one does not know when something will be spilled on the mattress. Speaking of spills, they should be taken care of immediately, because, leaving them for a day or so will have irrevocable consequences and effects.
- Use a cover or a mattress protector, to ensure that it is protected from most harmful elements and particles, such as dust, grime, dirt and etc. It is also important to clean the cover or protector on a regular basis, so as accumulation of dust, grime, dirt and other particles are prevented.
- It is important to vacuum the mattress on a regular basis. It is even recommended to do it, if possible, twice a week, so as to ensure that any harmful particles and elements will not accumulate in time.
- If it is used a lot, then it is important for the mattress to be aired out four to five times a year. For those that are not, then twice a year is already good enough.
