Hair Plugs Cost Is Worth It
If you have balding spots the best way to get hair growing again is with a treatment that has been around for about 50 years. Although this procedure has been improved greatly over that time span, the basic idea is still the same. A hair restoration surgeon will remove living hair follicles from one area of the body and implant them into the bald spot where they will take root and grow. These hair plugs will then continue to produce for years to come. The main draw back is the hair plug cost but when you consider you don’t need to buy anymore expensive hair loss treatments and remedies it becomes quite cost effective.
When hair plugs for men are utilized the surgeon will generally get the donor hairs from an area at the back of the man’s head. This is because men tend to lose their hair at the crown or at the hair line above the forehead. This is why hair loss in men is referred to as male pattern baldness. There are set patterns where the hair follicles stop producing and others that continue to have good growth. For some reason, the hair at the back of the head is not susceptible to falling out like the hair on the top is. This provides a great donor area for the surgeon to remove the implantation hair from.
This same procedure is different for women though. When women lose hair they tend to have a thinning problem over the entire scalp. This means there is no thick growth to be used as a donor site because removing hair from one area will just make it that much more noticeable. Instead, hair plugs for females involve transplanting hairs from other areas of the body into the scalp. These hairs work fine as fillers but since they are generally more coarse than scalp hair they are not recommended for hair line reconstruction. This procedure increases the hair plugs for women cost because it is a little more involved to harvest hair this way than just from the back of the head.
