How to Decorate Your Porch

A house with a porch is great for people who love spending time outdoors. A porch can be a friendly spot for neighbors to come for a chat, or for kids to play during a hot summer afternoon. You can even enjoy the cool breeze and revel in the colors of spring on your porch.

There are many ways that you can update the look of your porch, especially if you have quite a sizeable one. First of all, think about the layout that you want for your porch. Where will be the seating area? What types of items that you want to have? Will there be a large open sitting area or cozy clusters of chairs? After you have a layout in mind, it will be easier to decorate and add some personal touches to your porch.

Seating is important. Consider having wooden or wicker chairs, wrought iron furniture or even a rocking chair on your porch. This furniture can be softened and made all the more comfortable with ample cushions and other soft furnishings. Put a large braided rug on the floor and a table for you to serve drinks. Place these chairs around and scatter cushions on these chairs. A throw can also be incorporated if you want to spend some nights outside. Or if you want something really quaint, having a porch swing will be fantastic.

Consider plants on your porch. You can have them in beautiful decorative pots or planters all around the porch. You can even have hanging blooms in baskets. These you can hang all around your porch. You can even hang up decorative signs on your porch. Wind chimes will be a welcome too.

A wreath can be a wonderful addition to your door or your walls. How about incorporating a wall mount copper mailbox next to your front door? This too will give a quaint charming look to your porch. You can even find antique doorbells and hang these next to your door.

Decorating your porch is a great way to make the place more attractive and inviting. You will definitely spend a lot more time on your porch with your family and friends.
