How to Protect your Skin from the Sun

It’s always important to protect your skin but that can be hard if you live an active life. Even if you don’t get outside much, if you live in the city then your skin can be exposed to a number of pollutants. And if you are an outdoor person, then the situation can be even worse. One day of sun exposure won’t hurt you, but you have to take your entire lifetime into account. The hours spent in the sun can really ad up and the results can be seen in time.

You can always treat yourself to an occasional day in the sun, but it’s getting more and more dangerous to leave yourself unprotected. The first layer of protection you should consider is your clothing. On a hot sunny day there is always the temptation to strip down to as little clothing as possible. But you have to remember to keep your body parts covered from time to time. Don’t forget about hats and towels, and always consider sun glasses to protect your eyes. The glare from the sun can be extremely damaging on those hot days when the sun bounces off the water.

When it comes to sun tan lotion, anything is always better than nothing. Not all tanning lotions are considered equal but you can usually find one that is appropriate to your location and level of sun exposure. You’ll always want to avoid anything that is oil-based or too greasy. Protecting your skin from the sun will help to alleviate problems with dry skin and wrinkles. Being smart with the sun also comes in handy when trying to learn how to get rid of acne since the sun can really provoke your oil glands. But in the overall scheme of things, dealing with acne scars or wrinkles should be the least of your worries. Extreme sun damage can cause more serious complications, so prevention should always be on your mind.
