Alternative uses for puppy pads
When your puppy toilet training is finally finished (doesn’t it always feel like a lifetime?) you might have a whole bunch of puppy pads left that you no longer need. If you are planning on getting a new puppy shortly, keeping your unused supply is definitely an option. If this is however not the case, keeping your puppy training pads for another 5 to 10 years is senseless. Rather than just disposing of them in the trash bin, are there perhaps alternative uses for puppy toilet training pads?
Puppy training pads are designed with the intention that you train your puppy to do his business on the pad rather than on the floor. As the pad has a waterproof as well as an absorbent layer, this will prevent damage to carpets and wooden floors. In the beginning stages of puppy toilet training however, there will definitely be lots of times that the puppy messes on the floor instead of on the puppy pad. Rome was after all not built in a day, and it is not reasonable to expect a puppy to understand immediately and get things right. These things take time after all, that is why we have to be patient and repeat any puppy training steps a number of times.
When mishaps occur, one way to use the puppy pad differently from what it was intended is to use the pad to clean up the mess. The waterproofing will in this case prevent the mess from getting on your hands, and the absorbent layer will help in cleaning up. Unlike puppy training pad holders for which I can list 7 alternative uses, puppy pads as such can only be used as general cleaning rags and not much else. Not a very versatile product at all, but to be fair, that was never the intention of the manufacturers.
