Perfume Review: Pleasures Delight for Women by Estée Lauder
This Pleasures Delight perfume by Estée Lauder was launched in 2008 and is one of the many versions of Pleasures. The designer wanted to do things differently this time, as this fragrance has a less floral and much sweeter style, although it doesn’t become gourmand, like Angel perfume by Thierry Mugler for example.
The opening is with sweet caramel notes, with a hefty dose of vanilla, which reminds of another fragrance for young women, Rock Princess by Vera Wang. The difference in this case is an extra caramel note, which makes this fragrance lukewarm and ideal for the winter. Towards the middle notes, the sweetness is enriched by a bouquet of flowers like peony, roses and lily-of-the-valley and also by notes of red berries like pomegranate and strawberry.
Whereas in the middle phase these floral notes fully develop, in the base notes they tend to disappear and what remains is again caramel with vanilla, plus (according to the website), a note of marshmallow, which make this fragrance even sweeter.
This is definitely more a winter than a summer perfume. It is suitable for a daily use, and has a long duration on the skin, but it doesn’t have a great depth and complexity. Caramel and vanilla make it almost a gourmand perfume, even though it is not so overly sweet to fit completely into the category, like for example another Estee Lauder perfume, Bronze Goddess or Angel perfume.
It can be worn on social occasions and night outs as long as it’s a informal even and where there is no intention of drawing attention or projecting a particular image.
On the romantic side, it can be a little dull, as the potentially attractive notes like caramel and vanilla lack of depth, which would invite the counterpart to come closer.
The ideal age range would be between 35 and 60 years.
