Singing your First Karaoke Song
Singing karaoke can be a delicate balance of bravery and good taste. If you upset this balance you can end up on stage singing horribly in front of a crowd of stunned onlookers. Thankfully, it’s not as difficult as it may seem to sing a good karaoke song. All it takes is a bit of preparation and some good choices. You’ll want to start by picking a fun song that you’ll have no problem singing in front of a group of strangers. No matter how much talent you might have, if it’s your first time on stage you’ll want to do everything possible to impress the crowd.
After you’ve picked a good song then you would do well to spend some time memorizing the lyrics. This will give you a good backup plan that will allow you to be less dependent on the karaoke machine. If you feel your nerves getting to you, you can also ask a friend to come up to the karaoke machine with you to sing a duet. In fact, a lot of first time karaoke goers start off on stage this way. It’s a great way to get familiar with the microphone while having a support system at the same time.
No matter how well you perform, you’ll always want to follow appropriate karaoke etiquette. So that means taking things seriously while having fun, and always being polite to other performers. You should always be patient when other people are singing, and be understanding if you don’t get to use the karaoke machine more than once. And most importantly, have fun and get to know the other singers. The best thing about karaoke is the bonds that form between people at the bar. Music has a powerful way of bringing people together so as long as you follow the rules, you may find a great new hangout after successfully pulling of your first song.
