Storing Bedding for Divan Beds

Divan beds can be multi-purpose. In some instances, divan beds are a couch by day and a bed by night. In other instances a divan bed refers to a matching mattress and box spring set. They are great for situations where you are rather tight on space as they generally take up a lot less space in a room, as there is no actual bed frame attached.  Many divan beds also have additional storage built into the box frame, which is again extremely useful if you do not have a lot of storage space in your home, as they can be used to store extra bedding for example.

Depending on the style of bed, your bedding needs will be different. If you have a divan that doubles as a couch by day you will need to not only find a place to store sheets and blankets during the day, but also come up with a set that does not take a lot of work to make comfortable at night when it is time to rest. If your bed has extra storage space underneath, by way of drawers, you have a ready-made spot for storing sheets and comforter. If the drawers are relatively narrow you may need to find somewhere else for the comforter. An alternative is to use several thinner blankets for warmth at night as they can usually be folded and stored in a smaller space than one large comforter. Others find it easier to use a sleeping bag, with inner lining sheets, to cover up with at night.

If your divan bed remains made with sheets and blankets both day and night you do not need to worry about finding a place to store the sheets and blankets.  It is still helpful to use the drawers under the divan for extra blankets, pillow cases and other linen.  This very space saving type of bed is great for rooms with little space or for guest rooms. You can also place one in your home office where it can double as a couch and a bed for any visiting guests, providing you with extra room yet still managing to conserve existing space by having your office become a guest room of an evening, when necessary.
