The Standard Neck Lanyard and its Common Uses
The neck lanyard has become a very commonplace object around the workplace, and at schools and colleges. One of the primary uses is for identification purposes. A person can wear their employee or student ID card around their neck, and this is much more practical and convenient than carrying it in a wallet, pocket or bag.
They are also commonly used for trade fairs and exhibitions, allowing ticket collectors and those monitoring the gates to know instantly if someone is an exhibitor or not. One recent development is to manufacture a custom lanyard to use for promotional or advertising purposes. These are often given out at trade fairs to promote a particular product or company. There are different ways this can be accomplished, although usually text or a company log is silk screened directly onto the lanyard.
A more professional, and more expensive, way to advertise or use neck lanyards for promotional purposes is to actually have the logo custom woven into the lanyard. This way the text will not rub off or become difficult to read.
Another popular use for the neck lanyard is to use it go keep track of keys. Key lanyards are extremely useful in large work areas such as in factories or busy office buildings. They are also used a lot in schools and gyms where not everyone has access to all of the rooms. Hospitals regularly lock away most prescription drugs, and thus these types of key-chains are also very useful in these situations. This way a nurse or medical caregiver has instant access to the medicines and does not have to go searching for keys in an emergency.
Many women, however, would prefer to wear a more feminine or stylish neck lanyard keychain. Thus, there is also a fairly large demand for the beaded lanyard. These can look great, and are usually designed so that they fit with most styles and color of clothing.
