Tips For Becoming An Artist
No matter what you’ve heard or experienced, natural abilities to draw well aren’t handed out when people are born. Becoming a good artist requires the right mindset and a lot of determination to succeed. No matter your age or ability level, no matter your career, you can learn to draw even if it has been a long time since you last tried.
Maybe someone told you that the only thing you need to do in order to draw well is to just look and draw what you see in front of you. This isn’t really helpful advice. You need to have some other instruction.
The best way to learn to draw is to draw subjects that you find interesting and would actually enjoy drawing. If you find the drawing activity boring, it will seem like a chore and you won’t be motivated to finish it. It’s helpful to have a good understanding of the subject that you’re trying to draw. For example, if you want to learn how to draw faces, it would be good if you understand bone structures and proportions in a person’s face. Drawing is a skill and you need to have knowledge of what you’re trying to draw.
Your drawing will improve with a lot of practice, and you’ll get better at drawing the things you like. You will make a lot of mistakes along the way, but mistakes are a great learning tool and are really just a step in the process.
You don’t need to buy expensive tools or pencils in order to be a better artist. Don’t spend money on things you don’t need, rather spend time practicing more. The most important tool you need is self-motivation. With a lot of persistence you will get better, don’t let anything stop you from continuing.
