Why I Love My Storage Trunks
I enjoy decorating with storage trunks, as they add character and dimension to a room, while also providing some discrete storage space. Here are some of the ways you can use them to enhance your own living space as well.
Storage trunks, especially older ones, can be worn and faded, and not look very attractive at all. But most of them can actually withstand being painted, which would allow you to match them to any setup you have in your home. Typically a general acrylic paint will work fine, though you could use a latex paint if you wanted to draw on some freehanded detail. You will probably want to remove or cover the hinges before you do this however, or it will flake and not look very good after opening them a few times. Unless you aren’t planning on using the trunk to hold anything. In that case you’d be just fine painting the whole thing.
Another excellent use for storage trunks is to store things that you need on an infrequent basis. We use the trunk in our living room to keep blankets and other seasonal items, to free up our storage space in the house for other things. I also have a newer storage trunk in my game room that I use for video gaming storage, both for my consoles and my games. I like to sit on the floor while I play, and having a trunk allows me to keep them at a level that I can easily reach while playing. It also keeps them safe from being stepped on or otherwise broken.
Keep storage trunks in mind when you are thinking about decorating your home. While they are not always the cheapest route to take, they offer a unique look and plenty of extra storage space. These benefits alone make them well worth purchasing.
